Bogdana in Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park

Bogdana is now back in Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park. You can see her first photo here. IOR Park was renamed to Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park sometime between 2003 and 2005.

I took this photo in the autumn of 2020. It was on a Wednesday and the park was mostly empty and peaceful since it was a work day.

Although I am very proud of the end result, the experience of photographing Bogdana is like a comedy show. She is not a model and she is the opposite of photogenic. I don’t even know if there’s a word for that, but Bogdana’s picture could be a placeholder for it. For example, she frowns when she is told to smile, she blinks when she actually smiles and if you keep here in the same location for more than 5min she will start playing with her phone.

At the end of the day I am very pleased with the photo. I could have done some dodge&burn in post, but I’m not really a fan of that and I intentionally overexposed the photo to get this glamour white glow look.

On the technical side, I took the photo with my trusty Fujifilm X-T20 and an adapted Carl Zeiss Distagon 35mm F2. Trying to decide which of my lenses to sell and took the Distagon for a spin. I’m keeping it
