My Fujifilm X100VI Moment

A very cute dog with brown to orange fur, laying down on gravel with his head on his paws

As passionate photographer I always try to have my camera with me whenever I go outside, doesn’t matter if it’s an office day or a casual meeting with friends, but the truth is it’s not always easy.

The Fujifilm X-H2s is not a small camera. Attach the Fujifilm XF 90mm F2 to it and it gets even bigger. Sometimes I even have the vertical grip attached just so I don’t have to worry about battery life.

Carrying a bulky expensive camera with you is always a concern. You have to be mindful of thieves, you have to be careful not to forget it somewhere, you need to find a place for it when you sit down to eat, it’s also an extra carry (and I hate carrying stuff).

But sometimes it’s worth it. This cute dog was my X100V moment (the X100VI wasn’t released at the time). This was the exact moment I thought of purchasing an X100V. A small portable camera which doesn’t attract attention, is a whole lot smaller than the X-H2s and doesn’t make me ask myself “what lens should I attach before leaving the house?”. The sort of camera I can always have with me without worrying about it.

It’s been one year since I’ve taken this photo and I still haven’t purchased an X100V or X100VI. In a way, I’ve spent so much money on photography gear that I really can’t justify an X100VI. But I could also argue that next to everything I’ve spent on flashes, lenses, cameras, camera bags etc., an X100VI probably wouldn’t make much of a difference….if I can find one.
