Valeria, Children of the 21st Century
This was my fist time photographing Valeria. My girlfirend and I had a night out with her parents so she was sitting silently at the table and playing with her tablet.
The rule is simple: if you are a parent with kids between 5 and 10 years old and you want to have a nice social gathering at a restaurant, you NEED to have a tablet or a smartphone to keep the little ones occupied. Otherwise the night will end very abrutly.
Technically the shot was not difficult because I took advantage of the iPad’s light casting soft shadows on Valeria’s face. The tricky part was the overall low light in the restaurant. I think I had to use both ISO 3200 and the optical image stabilization on my Fujifilm XF 50-140mm. The high ISO wasn’t bad at all after applying some post processing noise reduction.
